Peachtree Elementary School is located north of metro Atlanta in the Peachtree Corners area of Norcross in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The school was established in 1971 at a site along an Indian trail called Peachtree Path. This 1800's trading route connected North Georgia to what is now the Atlanta area. The school opened with 700+ students and Brooks Coleman was the first principal.

Peachtree's growth has mirrored that of Gwinnett County as a whole. Three new classroom buildings, a gym, and an outdoor classroom have been added since 1986. Peachtree grew to a then record high of 1600+ students in the early 1990's before two new elementary schools were built in our cluster to relieve overcrowding. In 2015-2016 Peachtree went through two rezonings after fluxuating to over 1800 students.  Peachtree's enrollment is currently at approximately 1000 students in grades K-5.

As part of the Gwinnett County Public School System, Peachtree belongs to the Norcross Cluster. Our school system is organized into 18 clusters each centered around one of the district's high schools. Each cluster includes a high school and its middle and elementary feeder schools. Our students will advance to Pinckneyville Middle School and on to Norcross High School or to Paul Duke STEM High School.

Our school has received numerous awards at the national, state, and local levels. Our highest honor was being selected a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School for 1996-97. Other awards include two time winner of both the Georgia School of Excellence and Georgia Pay for Performance Awards. In 2016 we were awarded The Georgia Family-Friendly Partnership School Award by the Georgia DOE.  In addition, Peachtree has received the Distinguished Title 1 School award for eight consecutive years including recognition by Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks for achievement above expectations on testing results. Peachtree Elementary is an International Baccalaureate School.

Peachtree Elementary School is accredited through the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACs) and the Georgia Standards Commission. This accreditation is given for meeting standards in areas such as class size, personnel, instructional programs, community involvement, and academic progress. Reports from this commission are filed in the school office and are available to parents.
